Welcome to Themefinding!
The purpose of themefinding is to find common threads from the ideas, comments, and information provided from all convention participants. Information will be provided through the self-organizing Open Space Sessions and the two "Conversations That Matter" that happened. Volunteers working on the Themefinding teamlet will assist with transcribing notes, organizing text messages, and identifying themes that weave through all the conversations. All information or "data" produced from the participants will be organized and put on this public wiki for all to see.

Open Space
Over 700 girls, volunteers and staff members engaged in conversations to to think creatively and passionately about the future of our movement. Open Space participants were focused sharing what we do best, learning from the successful practices of others, and envisioning a movement that attracts and serves a record number of girls. The convening question for Indianapolis was:
As we approach our 100th anniversary, what can we learn from each other that will help us bring Girl Scouts to record numbers of girls?
Volunters from the Themefinding teamlet reviewed the vast amount of data generated from the Open Space participants. Wonderful energy and insight was found. Please review the themes identified and comment about what themes you see emerging from the information shared during the process over on Convention Talk in the Open Space forum.

Swapping Our Stories:
On opening night more than 6,000 people were invited to share with someone their experiences as they relate to the question: “You have journeyed to this moment both in your Girl Scout career and your physical journey. What brought you to this moment and what is the lesson most important to you about leadership that you have learned as a result of your journey? Participants weaved their stories and shared their experiences. The one on one conversations built enthusiasm and energy on the floor and the buzz was audible. We create common experience through the weaving of the story we share collectively.
Text Poll from Opening Night
Throughout our time in Indy, digital StoryWeavers collected stories from members. We've posted some of the videos in Swapping Our Stories and we will continue to post more videos over the next few weeks. Plus, some folks have shared their stories in writing. We invite you to share your Girl Scout story in words, audio or video in Convention Talk's Swapping Our Stories.
Cafe' Conversations:
On Friday, October 31st, during the National Council Session, a group of 50 girls and adults participated in engaging conversations about leadership.
Please read the insights and comments generated from the Cafe Conversation and add your thoughts!
On November 1st during the lively debate on the convention floor, a group of 25 girls and adults met at Storyweaving Center to engage in more Cafe Conversations.
Three topics emerged:
- How can we maintain relationships and connections with former Girl Scouts, young women ages 18-25 as leaders?
- How can we stop the rapid loss of membership that has taken place in the last ten years?
- How can we have transparent communication and processes
Please read the comments from this very engaging conversation....
What are your thoughts? How can you contribute to the ideas around these topics that will help our Movement move forward?

Commiting to Action:
During our final time together at the convention, members were asked to think about the enriching stories shared and what needs to take place to collectivelly move Girl Scouts forward. Participants were invited to text message one idea concerning the top priority for GSUSA and one message about their personal commitment to help the Girl Scout Movement.
